Hi, I’m a student from Manila, and I’ve been lately watching the news on DW-TV on the NATO members and the pressures their soldiers are facing in Afghanistan.
Mulling over this situation led me to a couple of conclusions. Muslims are concerned about Western imperialists and the corruption of values of Muslim youth. Non-Muslims are concerned about terrorists and about issues like the stories of Muslim women who are supposedly forced to do this or that against their will.
Here’s my two sticks of lembas’ worth: We moderate non-Muslims should pressure & vote against governments with imperialistic aims, and live responsible moral lives. In return, moderate Muslims should discourage & be opposed to those who use rash violence, and be open to the idea that choosing to follow Islam shoud be a voluntary act of the will. What do you think?

Despite the effect on world population and melting of the glaciers, the U.S. will not approve the Kyoto Agreement
~ Idea 6259 ~
In December 2003 humanity learned with dismay that during the summer 21,000 people died in Europe as a result of excessive heat (more than 40 degrees Celsius), that the glaciers of the North and South Poles had lost three meters of their height, that this could mean an increase in the height of the seas and oceans levels, and that the surface of the depleted ozonosphere of our atmosphere had reached the size of China.
And all this was insufficient to induce the USA to agree with and sign the Kyoto Agreement for the reduction of carbon dioxide in the world. The reason given for the refusal: it would harm business, the economy.

A main source of happiness of the rich is to think of the difference between them and the poor.
But they are even happier when they decide to be of help to the poor and to share with them a little of their wealth. Why not do that world-wide and between all countries?
